Fibre-Reinforced Concrete

Containing fibrous material which increases its structural integrity, fibre-reinforced concrete can be made with a variety of inserts to improve its integral strength.

Fibres used include steel, glass, synthetic and natural fibres, and each lends differing qualities and benefits to the concrete.

Applications include:

  • Industrial flooring – the use of fibres can replace traditional steel mesh reinforcing
  • Tunnel linings – some tunnels now don’t use traditional steel reinforcement, but use fibre-reinforced concrete instead.
  • Pipes for sewage installations
  • Pre-cast structural components
